Canyoning στο Μαυροβούνι.

Το Μαυροβούνι είναι η φυσική συνέχεια του Κισσάβου (Όσσας) προς τον νότο και του Πηλίου προς τον βορά. Με άλλα λόγια αποτελεί την ορεινή σύνδεση των δύο. Όσσα, Μαυροβούνι και Πήλιο αποτελούσαν κατά την αρχαία Ελληνική μυθολογία την χώρα των Κενταύρων. Κάποιοι το αποκαλούν βόρειο Πήλιο και κάποιοι νότιο Κίσσαβο. Όμως, είναι ένα βουνό με την δική του οντότητα και παρ’ όλου του ότι έχει στοιχεία και των δύο γνωστών γειτόνων του, κρατάει με σιγουριά τον δικό του ιδιαίτερο «χαρακτήρα». Είναι ένας μακρύς και σχετικά χαμηλός ορεινός όγκος με πυκνοδασομένες τις ανατολικές πλαγιές του, ενώ τις δυτικές, με χαμηλή μεσογειακή βλάστηση και έντονα πετρώδεις.
Το φαράγγι του Ρακοποτάμου με τα δύο του τμήματα Ράκο Ι & Ράκο ΙΙ, βρίσκεται στις βορειοανατολικές πλαγιές του υπέροχου αυτού βουνού, με κατάληξη στην παραλία του Ρακοποτάμου, στο Αιγαίο.
